ROSE LITTRELL, ANIMAL CARICATURE SCULPTOR, TO SHARE CRAFT
ART: UP CLOSE & PERSONAL, MONDAY, JANUARY 11, 2010, AT 6 P.M.
FRANKLIN, Tenn., December 10, 2009—Dickson sculptor Rose Reed Littrell will share her amazing talent to create animal caricatures during the free educational program of The Arts Council of Williamson County (ACWC), “Art: Up Close & Personal,” Monday, January 11, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Williamson County Public Library.
Originally from Franklin, Tenn., Littrell, who is a self-taught and trained artist, has developed her own style in a variety of art forms, often using painted fiberglass with steel armature or papier-mâché as her media. She explains that her art work “is deeply rooted In her love of all animals especially horses.”
Her most well-known work is featured in the Wild Horse Saloon in Nashville where 15 life-size realistic and caricature sculptures of horses and cows become a focal point of the restaurant. Other works include a 28-foot long diorama at Bowie Nature Park in Fairview, Tenn.; fun sculptures at Victory Junction Gang Camp in Randleman, N.C.; and extra large fiberglass “Bees” for The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee. Her commissioned work has been sold and exhibited from San Antonio, Texas, to New York City, N.Y. Each piece of her art reflects a special love, gift and talent. She has previously taught at Tullahoma Elementary School in Tullahoma, Tenn., and Pegram Elementary in Pegram, Tenn.
Scott B. Hodes, director of visual arts for the Arts Council of Williamson County, points out, “The lecturers have been asked to share the experiences that have culminated in that artisan being able to fulfill the role of professional working artist in the community, such as background, history, choices and decisions, education and technique, work experience, and artistic and life influences.”
The Williamson County Public Library and O’More College of Design are sponsors for this series developed to educate students in the arts as well as those in the community who have an interest in the arts. The lecture series is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Studio space available from AdornmentsOnline - Factory at Franklin
My name is Laura Lempke; I am a member of Adornments and we are looking for local artists in need of studio/retail space in which to work and sell their creations. We have a small gallery in the Factory at Franklin and we are hoping to expand our current gallery into a larger communal retail space with several various sized booths out of which artists can work. We would handle any sales for you (at no cost) whether you are present or not (we'd be there during business hours) and you would have 24 hour access to the space for work. We are looking specifically for artists who are capable and willing to work in their space several days a week so that the community can come and see artists at work. Booth sizes range from 10x10 or 8x12 down to 8x8 or smaller (you can also have larger if you so choose) with prices ranging from around $400 to $600 a month based on size of space desired. You may also consider getting a small group together to split the cost of the booth rental.
In exchange for that rent we would provide studio space with 24 hour access to you, use of our credit card machine and packaging materials for sales(free to you), advertising in various publications and advertising on our website (http://Adornments-Online.net).
Please let me know if you are interested or if you know of other local artists who may be interested in this opportunity. You can reach me at AdornmentsOnline@gmail.com
Thanks,
Laura Lempke

Arts Council of Williamson County announces “Brown Bag Lunch Bunch” guest speaker, Stacy Widelitz - Dec 12, 2008
Arts Council’s announces “Brown Bag Lunch Bunch” guest speaker, Stacy Widelitz.
The Arts Council of Williamson County’s ‘Brown Bag Lunch Bunch’ will meet on December 12, from 11 am – 1 pm at the Williamson County Public Library (main conference room), 1314 Columbia Pike in Franklin.
With a multi-platinum album for his contribution to Dirty Dancing, an Emmy nomination for a wildlife documentary score, more than a dozen television themes, and music for more than two dozen movies for both the big screen and TV to his credit, composer Stacy Widelitz has already built up an impressive resumé.
Stacy first came to prominence with the song "She's Like the Wind," co-written with Patrick Swayze and featured in Swayze's blockbuster Dirty Dancing. Featured on the movie's wildly successful soundtrack, which sold 11 million copies in the United States alone, it was the third single to be released and reached no. 3 on Billboard's top-40 chart (no. 1 among adult-contemporary radio listeners). He also received two BMI awards for the tune as among the most-performed songs of that year. He has scored features, more than twenty made-for-TV movies, written the end-title song for Disney’s Pocahontas II, and has received four Gold Addies for music he composed for advertising. Stacy wrote the title song and scored all the episodes of Children’s Television Workshop’s acclaimed animated series Cro, and has worked with directors such as Todd Holland, Waris Hussein and James Contner.
Stacy also composed the score and much of the dance music for the film One Last Dance, which garnered him a Best Music Award at the Nashville Film Festival. Subsequently, Stacy was asked to join the board of the festival, and he's now serving his second term as president. He has also worked with many noted musicians, such as Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, Edgar Winter and Danny Wilde (The Rembrandts). Stacy is noted for his diversity, being as comfortable in front of an orchestra as he is in the state-of-the-art digital studio he maintains at his home.
