Optimizing Your Images

Instructor: Jim Bruner,

This is a seminar that will teach you about the tools and modules and how to use them to optimize each and every picture you make.

We'll begin by creating a workflow that not only makes sense but takes the frustration out of finding the right picture in the future. This will lead us to importing images in a quick and efficient manor.

From there we will begin working through the develop module, learning about each tool and showing each step along the way.

We then go on to the output modules, (Slideshow, Print, and Web) Here we will learn how to share our work with the world.

August 29, 2009 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm

In the Jaycees Building on the grounds of Cannonsburgh Village in Murfreesboro, TN

The cost of admission is just $69 and seats are limited to 24.

Artist’s Forum is a program in which Nashville-based and regional emerging and recognized artists discuss the thoughts and processes behind their work. Participants are encouraged to come and be a part of the dialogue about the artistic process.

The five members of Off the Wall Art Group (Janet Heilbronn, Mahlea Jones, Jenny Luckett, Jaime Raybin, and Iwonka Waskowski) met and formed their group while they were students at Watkins College of Art and Design. The members all share a similar artistic language, involving a foundation in conceptual art, a curiosity about materials, and an interest in making work with personal resonance.

Off the Wall shows are curated, installed and promoted by the artists.
These shows were initially held in alternative spaces as one-night community events that included an open dialogue between artists and viewers. In recent years, the group has begun to exhibit in more established galleries, such as Dangenart Gallery and Twist Gallery in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tennessee.

Dr. Sketchy's is what happens when cabaret meets art school. Dr.
Sketchy's is the little Brooklyn event that became a movement. Founded in 2005 by artist Molly Crabapple, Dr. Sketchy's asked a simple question. Why can't drawing half naked people be sexy?

We will have gorgeous women, musclemen, sideshow freaks and geeks.
Then we let you draw them for three hours! Grab a seat $10, Grab a drink, Listen to some tunes and Draw Draw Draw!!! Mixed in with all that will be ridiculous drawing contests where you can win alcohol and fancy prizes from local retailers.

From it's humble Brooklyn beginnings, Dr. Sketchy's now has 80 branches around the globe, including Hollywood, London, Tokyo, Rome, Melbourne and now Nashville.

See these sites for more information: http://www.drsketchy.com/ http://www.mollycrabapple.com/

The point is this isn't your typical life drawing class. Here, the drawing sessions are about opening your mind, pushing the envelope, encompassing the model's personality and uniqueness, fun contests and having a fun time. It's also about joining various aspects of our city's culture to benefit of everyone!
