The Nashville Chapters of the International
Interior Design Association (IIDA) and the American Society for
Interior Design (ASID) are teaming up to bring an event called
Zerolandfill project to Nashville! www.zerolandfill.net

Zerolandfill is a designer-driven upcycling project that takes expired
architectural samples (fabric, wallcovering, tile, glass, carpet, 3
ring binders, and other building materials) from local design
libraries, and diverts them *from the landfill* and into the hands of
teachers, non-profits and artists who have a need for the materials.

The event is *entirely free* to the public, is a prime example of
sustainability in action!

There will be 2 collection days for people to drop off their expired
samples. Our team of volunteers will then weigh them, sort them and
process them (i.e. rip all of the tile or carpet pieces out of the
books). And then there will be 2 different days where we open the
doors for artists, teachers, and non-profits to come and take what
they want and can haul off!

Last year, the Chattanooga chapter of ASID held this same event and in
their pilot project they diverted 6 tons of materials from the
landfill. Nashville is a substantially larger market and we are
combining the efforts of 2 professional organizations!

If you are interested in participating: All you need to do is show up
on either or both of the Saturdays of the event, promise not to throw
away any of the materials you take, and bring whatever bags, boxes,
trucks or trailers you may need to haul away everything! Also, if you
are interested in volunteering to help us process the materials on
either Friday before the event, you may have first choice of the
materials!
