CALL TO ARTISTS: 5th annual FUSION 2009

CALL TO ARTISTS:

5th annual FUSION 2009
NASHVILLE, TN – The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation announces a Call to Artists seeking submissions from local artists for a silent auction and show/sale.

We are looking for 30 artists (first come first serve) to join in our events’ art show and sale at the Cannery Ballroom Saturday, March 28th, 2009.

We are hoping to announce this in enough time for interested artists to create a collection to show and sell by March as well as letting us know how many exhibition spaces to plan for.

What is Fusion? In its fifth year, the event is an urban chic fusion of visual and musical artists, cultivating their talents to benefit cancer research and the Young Adult Cancer Survivor Retreat. Presented by The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation’s Young Professionals Committee, this unique evening will feature a live concert by an impressive roster of Nashville musicians, the fresh talents of many visual artists, a wealth of local fashion designers competing to become the next Runway Fusion Star, original Nashville short Films and a silent auction geared toward young professionals.

Art Show: In keeping with the Fusion theme, we are looking for a wide variety of artists from classic to modern, realist to abstract, we are looking for a diverse medium as well whether it be paint, photography, sculpture, jewelry. This will be a great business opportunity to:

One free ticket will be given to each artist.
An approximate 4’wide x 4' wide x 8’ tall display space will be provided for each artist.
All art will be hung by the artist on the day of the event.
All art must be appropriate for a public environment and meet the standards maintained by the committee. Material containing nudity, profanity, illegal activities, violence or negative depictions of social, ethnic, or political groups or individuals will not be admitted to the show.

Beneficiary - Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation and Young Adult Cancer Survivors Retreat: All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will benefit The Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation’s third annual Young Adult Cancer Survivor Retreats. The Foundation will host these retreats at the NaCoMe Conference Center near Centerville, TN. Cancer survivors, aged 18-35, will be treated to a weekend free-of-charge with activities revolving around self-esteem, leadership, recreational programming, and life-skills workshops. Because young adults with cancer are a smaller demographic, programming and support are not always available. This retreat offers a weekend of camaraderie among young adults who are otherwise, often isolated.
