Insight? Outta Site! brings Art Papers Editor-in-Chief Sylvie Fortin to Nashville: Sat, Oct. 2 @ 5pm

Nashville Cultural Arts Project welcomes Art Papers Editor-in-Chief
Sylvie Fortin Saturday, October 2nd, 5 - 6:30 pm., for the
Insight? Outta Site! lecture series.

Please join us at the Neuhoff Building in Germantown for the second participatory potluck forum designed to ignite creativity and thoughtful discussion about contemporary art and social engagement.

While Fortin will be discussing her ideas about art and writing, she's not here to give a traditional talk -- rather she wants to directly engage with you and answer your questions on the subject. Please bring a dish/snack/question/thought to share!

Insight? Outta Site! takes place in the Neuhoff building, located at 1315 Adams Street, 37208.
The forum is free, but seating is limited, so please RSVP to curator@n-cap.org by September 30.

Note: Drinks and snacks at 5pm. Talk 5:30 - 6:30

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Sylvie FortinArt Papers Editor-in-Chief Sylvie Fortin is an independent curator, art historian, critic and editor who has worked internationally since 1991. She was Curator of Contemporary Art at the Ottawa Art Gallery (Ottawa, Ontario, 1996-2001), Program Coordinator at la chambre blanche (Quebec City, Quebec, 1991ö1994), and a long-term collaborator with OBORO (Montreal, Quebec, 1994ö2001). Her critical essays have been published in Canadian, American and European catalogues, and her reviews have appeared in many periodicals including Art Press, C Magazine, Espace, Fuse (of which she is a contributing editor), NKA: Journal of Contemporary African Art and Parachute.

Fortin studied Art History at the University of Toronto, Université Laval, and Duke University. She has received numerous significant grants and awards as a critic and curator, as well as for her academic research. In 2007 Fortin was named a Lexus Leader of the Arts.
Playing on the success of NCAP's Outta Site! series, which brought internationally prominent artists, architects, and urban planners to Nashville, Insight? Outta Site! redefines the traditional lecture model. Rather than bring in speakers to simply give a speech and leave, Insight? Outta Site! facilitates interaction between invited speakers and the local community. Our previous talk was with Kevin McGarry.

Fortin's lecture is co-sponsored by Lipscomb University and Tennessee State University
Departments of Art.
