2012 Artist-in-Residence Opportunity @ Room in the Inn - Deadline Jan 15, 2012

2012 Artist-in-Residence Opportunity
 @ Room in the Inn
http://www.roomintheinn.org/

The Thomas P. Seigenthaler Fund for Creativity is sponsoring an Artist-in-Residence opportunity to provide art instruction to homeless guests at Room in the Inn.

The artist must have exceptional talent and demonstrated ability in teaching. Artists may be at any stage of career development, from emerging through mature. Applicants must be 21 years or older at the time of the application deadline. Students enrolled in or attending any institution of higher learning, either full-time or part-time are not eligible.

The objective of the program is to help the students build self-esteem through the creative process. Additionally, the fund aspires to offer classes that are encouraging, nurturing, educational, thought-provoking and, most importantly, fun. The Artist-in-Residence has the option to work in one medium throughout the semester, or in diverse media. The artist is encouraged to be creative about lesson-plans and projects. Individual and group projects may be conducted using a range of materials.

At the conclusion of the program, resulting works are showcased at a silent auction event that funds future artists and classes. Media coverage is solicited for the event. A catalog featuring the artists and the students’ work is also produced at the conclusion of the class and distributed at the auction event. Compensation is $5000 to conceive and execute ten classes and curate the show.
DEADLINE: January 15, 2012. Three finalists will be selected and interviewed by January 15, 2012. The recipient will be notified by January 31, 2012.

Questions and applications should be directed to the Thomas P. Seigenthaler Fund for Creativity at lbrandau@seigenthaler.com.  EMAIL FOR APPLICATION
