Call to artists: "Exploring the 23rd Psalm". Deadline: March 21, 2008

First Baptist Church, Nashville, "Exploring the 23rd Psalm"

All Tennessee artists are invited to explore the visual and spiritual richness of the 23rd Psalm through the creation of new and original works of art in their preferred style and medium (see Eligibility). No entry fee for is required and the festival is open to all artists in the State of Tennessee who are 16 years of age and over. Each artist may submit up to four entries with only one entry per theme, listed below with its accompanying passage:

Passage One: The Shepherd's Provision

Passage Three: The Shepherd's Care

Passage Four: The Shepherd's Promise

Psalm 23:6


This will be a Juried show. The Jurors will select at least the top 5 works from each theme that will be featured on the website ( The Jurors and a representative of the FBC Arts Festival will select four works, one from each passage in the Professional Division, to receive Purchase Awards in the amount of $1000. They will also select four works, one from each passage in the Amateur and Youth Division, to receive Awards in the amount of $250. Certain pieces from the festival will be selected for purchase at the Pre Exhibition Party.


The arts festival is open to all artists living within the State of Tennessee who meet the age requirement and present work in the categories listed above. Generally, works will be accepted on paper, canvas, and fabric, as well as photography, stained glass, and sculpture. Crafts including jewelry, kits, copies, or prints will not be accepted. Work accepted into the arts festival must be appropriately framed and ready for wall mounting and must not exceed 48" in any direction. Glazing for works must be Plexiglass only; Sculpture footprint cannot be more than 24" x 36" or weigh more than 50 lbs.

Artists are to deliver their entries on Saturday, April 12, 2008, from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm to the
Main Entrance of First Baptist Church Nashville, corner of 7th Avenue and Broadway in
downtown Nashville. Call 615/662-1411 for details.

All accepted entries must be available for sale on consignment (75/25) during the run of the
exhibit. This is not a fundraiser, and all net proceeds will be invested in art and ministry. In
addition, artists will be given the option to accept commissions based on their work during the
show on the same consignment basis through a designated member of the Arts Festival
Committee. Certain works will be given the option to remain on the website and available for ecommerce purchase for an undetermined number of months.
