The public is invited to the Artist Lecture Series featuring Boston-based artist, filmmaker, teacher and curator Jeff Daniel Silva. The lecture will take place in the campus theatre, and an opening reception for Silva's exhibit, Epic Measures: Close Encounters of Another Kind, wll be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public. Negotiation is an important skill, both professionally and personally. In our first program on negotiation, we introduced "hard bargaining" and focused on such topics as bargaining ranges, opening offers/demands, and concession making. In this second program on negotiation, we will introduce "smart bargaining" and focus on such topics as interests, option generation, and objective standards. This program will be interactive.
Taught by Chris Guthrie, Professor of Law, from Vanderbilt University Law School. The program is FREE and open to the public. To attend, you must RSVP to info@tnvla.org by Mon., Feb. 9th. Priority will be given to people who attended the first negotiation seminar in October.

Watkins College of Art & Design's Community Education Summer of the Arts Program

The Community Education Summer of the Arts Program for children and teens has three sessions left. There are many opportunities for budding artists ages 4 - 18 to discover and explore various art forms and methods at the college's state-of-the-art campus in MetroCenter. David Plunkert is a co-founder of Spur Design. His illustrations have appeared on ad campaigns for Adidas, Gatorade, Motorola and MTV. His work has been featured in publications including The New York Times, Newsweek, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal and Time. His work has been recognized by Communications Arts, the Society of Illustrators and American Illustration and collected by the Library of Congress as well as museums both nationally and abroad. The public is invited to this reception and lecture. Admission is $5 for students and AIGA members, and $10 for non-members.

Stan Townsend will present "Molding and Casting with Modern Materials," during which participants will learn all of the steps to make a one-part and two-part mold, as well as a mother mold and other castings. Ron Young will present "Patinas and Metal Finishes," during which participants will learn how to achieve beautiful patinas on all types of metals.
