DUE TO WEATHER, the AGORA Project at the Frist Center has been cancelled for January 29th. The Agora project will begin NEXT Tuesday, February 4th at 5:00pm.
In the spirit of the Greek agora (place of assembly), and in
conjunction with the Heroes: Mortals and Myths in Ancient Greece exhibition,
Thursday and Friday evenings will offer visitors to the Frist Center for the
Visual Arts an opportunity to take place in an art making and art exchange
project in the Frist Center’s own agora, the Grand Lobby from Friday, Jan. 29
–
Friday, Feb. 26, 2010.
On these evenings, from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m., there will be art making
supplies available in the lobby, as well as tables set up for visitors
to leave a work of art, exchanging it for one on the table. Members of
the Frist Center staff and the College Advisory Committee are contributing
the first works in this Artful Exchange. Visitors are invited to make a
piece of art and exchange it for one on the tables in the Frist Center’s Grand
Lobby.
This activity is free.
“This is a fun activity that we hope will encourage celebratory and
collaborative art making,” said Andee Rudloff, Frist Center community
relations manager. “Our College Advisory Committee is eager to reach
out to their peers on college campuses+ to experience the Frist Center. This
is one way for them to do that.
