Art Makes Place Panel Discussions

The Frist Center will be the site for a number of presentations in conjunction with ART MAKES PLACE: Contemporary Artists make Community-based, Public Art in the form of Temporary, Site-specific and Performance-based Artworks.
Art Makes Place is organized by the Nashville Cultural Arts Project, in collaboration with Metro Nashville Public Schools, Vanderbilt University, and the Frist Center, with funding from the Metro Nashville Arts Commission, Vanderbilt University, and the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation.

Michael Cooper
Nationally renowned Nashville muralist Michael Cooper discusses a proposed mural by students at Overton High School based on graffiti art. This talk will be followed by a round table discussion with other Art Makes Place artists working in the public sphere.
Cooper and Overton High School students will create a temporary mural with sidewalk chalk on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. on the 3rd Ave. Rock City Machine building in downtown Nashville, weather permitting. The public is invited to watch.
